More Resolutions

Wow, I can't believe I was actually able to fit in one more post before the year ended. I have a party to go to in.... about 2 and a half hours so I should be getting ready sometime very soon. Anyway, I finally thought of more New Year Resolutions (or maybe just one....)

1. Keep blogging and don't give up on the blog.
This one actually means a lot to me. As a kid growing up, I've always had a diary/journal to write everything in. I realize now that for one, I don't have time and two, my hand hurts from writing so much since I have too much to say and my penmanship can't keep up. I thought keeping a blog of my daily life would be pretty good I guess. I like doing this once a day thing (though that would probably phase out very soon once school starts again for me)

Anyway, I think I'm going to get ready for my party now. I'll see everyone in 2012!

Baking Time~

Hey guys, remember how I said how I said I was going to bake today? Well we followed a Martha Stuart recipe for Checkerboard Cookies. Guess how that turned out?

So this was the first batch that we made. We weren't too sure what to be expecting and look what turned up... This was our dough mix. It legit looks like sand or something you'd put at the bottom of a fishbowl.

Anyway, the first batch wasn't AS fail as we thought it would be (actually, I take that back. Yes it was) It wasn't really sweet enough so we added some icing sugar powder on top of it ._.

I think this was our biggest problem. None of the pieces would stick together because of how broken apart the "dough" was. I don't even think the dough really was dough. It broke apart in your hands lol
And this is our second batch. This one turned out much better than the first but still kinda messed up :P That's ok. It tastes not too bad so it's fine.

I'm not too sure how many of you know this but I can't cook to save my life. I know for sure the two things I can make (that require cooking) are noodles and eggs (I can cook eggs in any way other than poached or all that weird stuff in recipes. Just don't expect it to look very nice ahaha)
So being able to make these cookies was a pretty big accomplishment for someone as culinary-impaired as I am. I just pray that my future husband is able to cook ._. or else we'd be living off takeout (or eggs....)

Man, I really wish I had better lighting at my desk :P It's hard to take nice pictures with crap lighting (wow total state-the-obvious moment right here)

Yay! I'm still getting presents for my birthday. This was just a small thing from one of my friends along with a bigger gift. She knows how much I like small cute things and how much I like looking at desserts so why not decorative erasers! :D I think they look so cute.

On a more beauty-product-related level, these are two handcreams I have really been loving this winter. Both are from Crabtree and Evelyn and they both smell amazing. I also would've gotten the pomegranate one to try, but they ran out. The two I have are Nantucket Briar and Summer Hill.
Texture: amazing. It is smooth, creamy, and absorbs well. It doesn't leave your hands sticky for the next 15 minutes like some other handcreams.
Smell: tbh I'm really bad at describing smells but I'll try my best. Nantucket Briar smells ... actually, you know what? I'll add on what these smell like another time. I have it out to smell right now but I realize that I'm actually starting to get sick and one side of my nose is clogged so my whole nasal system is kind of off at the moment QQ

I probably won't have any time to make a post tomorrow (since it's New Years Eve) and this is probably the last post of 2011 too. I hope everyone has a great time partying. Everyone, make your New Years Resolutions and have fun :D I'll see you in 2012!

nyappy~

to add on: look forward to a few more reviews of products in the New Year (this is mostly a post to remind myself as well) One product I will do for sure is CURE Natural Aqua Gel (sorry if I got the name wrong).

Got My Camera Back :)

haha finally picked up my camera from my friends house :D I can upload the pictures I took at the BBQ now. I'm not too sure how much I talked about it but.....

This is the set-up of our Korean BBQ night. Not too sure why Korean though. We used a teppenyaki hot plate and there was only one dish that was Korean (bulgogi)

The lamb....racks(?) that I cut oh so nicely. lol I don't actually eat lamb. I just cut it ahaha
My friend's cat's paw. It was too cute so I had to take a picture.
SMILING FISH. I'm sure it wasn't very happy though. It was put up for sale at a sushi restaurant.

So soz but that's all the pictures I have to post :P I'll be taking tons tomorrow and the day after though (baking tomorrow and NYE the day after) I'm super excitedd the year is almost over.

Holiday Shopping

Happy....Boxing Day Shopping....? ahahah...Went out (again) with a friend to do my boxing day shopping. Even I managed to buy a few things xD I really can't shop under pressure lol. I get all nervous and I think that I HAVE to buy something and I end up buying nothing at all. That's what always happens when I go on my trips down south to the Premium Outlet. We go for the whole purpose of shopping and buying things and I almost always return empty-handed. But enough of that. Let me show what I bought today :D

Saw a guy dressed up in a giant Rilakkuma costume (Remember how in the last post I mentioned how much I loved Rilakkuma?) Some little girl ran up at the same time I took the picture so yeah.

Hello Kitty MahJong Set! I should really learn how to play sometime. My family is actually out in the dining room right now playing (without me ._. )

Yes! Lush! This was one of the items I wanted to buy from the start. (Well not really) Funny storry, actually. I wanted to buy the Oatmeal/Porridge soap bar because I have heard wonders about the amazing-ness of the product so there it was: tagged, and on sale (buy one get one free) I'm not sure how many people have been to Lush but since they make their own soap, they're in charge of cutting it as well. The oatmeal soap hadn't been cut yet so I had the SA help me cut two pieces off (I was going to buy two). Then at checkout another SA said to me,
"Hey, you know this soap isn't on sale right?" and I was like...
"Well, clearly no." Apparently soaps made after a certain date (November 30th or something like that) were NOT on sale because it's considered new. So I was kind of frustrated and ended up leaving. I went back though after because I had actually really wanted to try out Lush' soaps at least one time so hopefully these two will do justice.

My new mousepad :D It was 10% off 14.99. Still quite expensive but I had needed a very large mousepad for the longest time.

BB cream that was on sale from $55 --> ....*drumroll*.... $10. Ahaha it was really cheap, I'm hoping it works though and doesn't break me out. I tried it out on my hand and it seemed fine. A lot of people had mentioned that this was a pretty good BB cream too (Hwa Yuan BB Cream from Korea). It's SPF 35 but that doesn't really matter to me since I wear sunscreen under everything anyway.

Also from the same store, I bought a Clay mask. Since I've wanted a clay mask for a while, I decided to give this one a try. I've actually been deciding between this one, a charcoal mask, and a "volcanic ash" mask. I thought that one sounded hilarious but hey, who knows, maybe it works miracles.

Anyway, from the same shop where I had bought the two beauty products. They handed this to me as I walked out the door. I honestly thought it was just empty boxes since it was so light (It doesn't say anything on the boxes either (other than "The Face Shop" which isn't even the store's name) so I had no idea what was inside these boxes. Turns out they're cotton pads. You can never have too many cotton pads so this was a pretty nice gift :)

Hope everyone had a good 26th of December. I'll post again soon

Christmas Day

How was everyone's Christmas? Looking forward to boxing day? (I know I am at least. I'll be going to the mall at 8:00am along with the rest of the people. My intent for tomorrow: Lush soap/face masks and possibly a LuluLemon Hoodie) Speaking of which, I left my camera at a friend's house and I don't know when I am able to get it back QQ So for the time being, I'm forced to be using my iPod camera which isn't too bad (I just prefer my real camera obviously) So in the meanwhile, I will upload a few pictures that I've taken over the span of the past week or so (just cute/interesting pictures that I never bothered to upload)

Look! It's a super cute pencil that I bought today. I spent the longest time in the shop picking between so many pencils. I couldn't choose ._. they had so manyy!

ahaha Look at these buns I saw at the supermarket the other day. A panda and a pig! How cute is that?

and this is my friend's new puppy ;____; I wanted to steal him so bad ahahaha. He was 11 weeks old in this picture :') Cute things always make me want to cry (I don't really cry at anything else though surprisingly)

Anyway. I hope everyone's geared up for tomorrow's boxing day sales. (or should I say today, since its technically the 26th already. Anywho...) Good Luck to everyone!

merry christmas!

Hey everyone :D Merry Christmas!Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas Eve and hope everyone will have a great Christmas Day.
Picture left is just an ornament tree I saw at the mall. I was trying to be artistic and took a few shots from below. (Sorry none of the photos here are editted. I'm super tired right now even though its only 1:30 and I couldn't be bothered to upload, edit, and reupload pictures)

(The sushi was our first "official" Christmas Meal of the day. I didn't eat any though since I had already eaten at our Christmas Eve dinner)

Went out today with a friend to "celebrate" my birthday ahaha. Went to a few malls and just walked around. Not that many plans for tomorrow either. I have a Korean BBQ to go to tomorrow with some friends and we're calling it our Christmas feast. I'll be sure to take photos :)
I don't want to make this post too long so once again,
Merry Christmas Everyone

The Year is Ending! & EOS Lip Balms

I don't really know what this post is going to be about actually. I just felt obliged to make another post somehow ;D

Anyway, its almost the new year and I hope others have also started thinking of their New Years Resolutions. I don't really remember mine from last year but it was probably something vague like "lose weight" or "do better in school". I think setting more specific, down-to-the-point goals will be more motivational rather than something like "eat healthier".
1. Pass my math course with a 73%+ this semester:
I know that my program won't need math, but having something lower than 73% really makes my transcript look really bad (I honestly have no idea why I'm doing so bad either. Math is a piece of cake)
2. Lose 20 pounds by June:
Yeah, this goal seems pretty self-explanatory. A lot of events, photos, parties, etc are going to happen in May/June for me and I could really afford to lose a few pounds :P
3. Clear skin by June:
Ok, this one is potentially impossible. I don't think I can control my skin/body and how well it grows but I can for sure change the factors that affect the growth of my skin/body. Simple things such as drinking an extra cup of water a day or immediately wiping off my sweat after working out would help for sure.
So I think having 3 goals for now isn't too demanding. If I think of any better ones, I'll be sure to post them up.

Remember my Chocolate Truffle mask review and I mentioned how I didn't really smell chocolate? Well I'm doing it again (ahaha I'm really using up these masks really fast) and I really stopped to try and smell the mask this time. I still don't really smell anything other than a sweet scent but there is a very (VERY) subtle scent of chocolate? I can barely tell myself but its there.

Moving on to a new topic, guess what beauty product I've really been loving lately?

Well for those who can't tell from the picture, EOS Lip Balms!! From left to right on the picture it goes: Strawberry Sorbet, Passionfruit, and Sweet Mint. The first one's I've ever bought were Cool Mint and Summer Fruit. Summer Fruit is basically the same thing but a red colour. Three other ones which I don't have are Tangerine, Honeysuckle, and Lemon Drop. (I am actually really wanting the Lemon Drop one to be honest but I haven't seen them in the stores). If anybody is curious here is a link to EOS' website: http://evolutionofsmooth.com/index.html

Well as I was starting to say, these lip balms have saved my lips from a very harsh and cold winter. If not for these, I can only imagine how chaffed my lips would be right now. If you're a forgetful type of person (such as myself), these lip balms are perfect too as they last on your lips for a pretty long time (unless you wipe it off or something). I also heard something about how EOS was made for easy application. I heard that some people just swipe it over their mouth (even when it's closed) and that would be their application. For me, I just put it on like regular lip balms/sticks. That's as easy as it gets for me.
Pros: smells really yummy, amazing moisture, lasts on your lips, cute design
Cons: tastes sweet
Yeah, to me, the only thing I don't like about these lip balms is the fact that they taste sweet. In my opinion, it'd be best tasteless but the taste isn't unbearable. It's just a very light sweet taste. Anyway, I hope everyone has a good ... rest of the day (since it IS technically the 23rd already).

Birthday Adventure

Ahaha So today was my birthday (yayy!) and I decided to celebrate by going out with one of my friends and doing what we always do: hanging out at arcades. We go to arcades regularly so it's not that much of a birthday celebration. It's totally fine though. I didn't really want a legit party anyway.

So after playing at the arcade, we went shopping for a little bit and bought mini figures at Japanese hobby store. ROUND ONE: (mine was on the right btw).

QQ I had this one already. Just my luck, eh? Lucky for me, my friend was willing to trade hers for mine. (love you, xalle). After, since we felt slightly defeated, we went in to buy more. ROUND TWO. You should have seen the horror in my eyes when I opened my box. I saw a flash of pink and I completely gave up. Total OTL moment. Luckily, I found out that it was a different figure despite it being the same character. (Kind of confusing, yeah. But you'd understand if you knew which anime this is from)

So I ditched my friend later on and went out to have a birthday dinner with my parents. Rib Eye Steak, salad.... meh. All that regular stuff you'd eat for a nice dinner. Normally, I would've ordered dessert too but upon realizing that desserts at fancy restaurants are usually a complete rip-off, I went to the local supermarket (yes, the same one where I buy my masks) and bought a few cakes. The one featured on the left is Coffee Mousse and I also bought a Fresh Strawberry Cake. (I would upload the picture but the positioning isn't working out so I give up)

Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Mask Review

Here we go, guys, another review! (wow, I'm really on a roll with this whole blogging thing). This time, I'll be reviewing another My Beauty Diary mask: Earl Grey Tea & Macaron. The Mask description is "illuminating & clarifying the face in a 20-minute treatment". Let's see how well it goes, shall we?

For those who don't know, Macarons are a french pastry/confection. It is a layer of buttermilk/jam that is sandwiched between two cookies.
Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the food. It tastes fine but I wouldn't eat it again unless I had to. The first time I've ever tried one was (coincidentally) in Paris. I've always thought they were one of the cutest foods in the world (I still think that) and I knew I had to try one.

So moving onto the mask. I was curious about the smell of this mask as the name suggests "macaron". Macarons (or Macaroons, doesn't really matter which) come in many flavours and tastes so having one scent to sum it all up? That part seemed interesting to me. But upon opening the packaging, all I could smell was Earl Grey tea (which is great. I love Earl Grey). This mask could be called Milk Earl Grey Tea and I would have believed it.

(ahaha to be honest, I'm still doing the mask at the moment. I'm just waiting another 10-15 minutes for it to finish up ;D  *grabs Popteen magazine and reads*)

Well, I think my face has gotten a bit brighter. Not too noticeable though. Like all other My Beauty Diary Masks, it moisturized my face. Compared to the Chocolate Truffle mask I used two nights ago, this one moisturized less but this one seems more appealing to me because of the smell. If any of you guys like Earl Grey tea, this mask if a must-try :) Sorry if I missed out any key points about the mask. If you have any questions which I did not already answer (which is probably a lot) feel free to comment and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

Chocolate Truffle Mask Review

I thought I'd have a change of pace and I'm going to try something new: a review!!
The item that gets this honour is My Beauty Diary's Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask. The mask description says "Moisturizing & softening the face in a 20-minute treatment"

I got this pack of masks yesterday at my local asian supermarket. It was on sale from $14.99CAD to $12.99 (yes, I am pretty aware that this stuff is pricey). I normally have pretty good experiences with My Beauty Diary masks and I have pretty good experiences with chocolate masks so I thought this would be the perfect combination.

Now, to start things off, I'm not that big of a chocolate person. Tell me to eat it and I'm pretty iffy but the smell. Oh, the smell is a totally different thing. I love the smell of chocolate and I was surprised to see that this didn't really have that big of a chocolate smell (or any, now that you mention it). After taking it out of the packaging, I'm still pretty disappointed that My Beauty Diary has yet to change back to their original sheets. I don't know if they're trying to conserve paper or whatnot but I liked how the mask quality was originally. This new one is too thin and rips very easily :( but speaking of the mask. This was a pretty decent mask. It moisturized, doing its exact purpose. But this mask just didn't seem too impressive to me. I mean, most of My Beauty Diary's masks do that for me. All in all....
Pros: moisturizes
Cons: flimsy sheet material (This will probably be the con for EVERY My Beauty Diary Mask by the way unless they're going to change it back to the way it was before)

Also yesterday when I went shopping for this mask, I bought the My Beauty Diary Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Sheet Mask. I'll probably make another review of this mask sometime soon. So look forward to it.

nyappy~

Oh, I forgot to add. I remember using the My Beauty Diary Chocolate Sheet Mask (is that what it's called?) and it was super amazing. Mind you, this was a really long time ago but I'm pretty sure I was totally shocked at how amazing it was. That would be my recommendation to you.

My Life

Lately, I've been thinking. What kind of person am I? What kind of path do I want to go down in my future? When am I ever going to trust another person fully?(Hell, probably not anytime soon or in a few years) When will I ever fall in love? All these questions I wish I knew the answer (as they all do concern me), but doubtfully, the answers wont be coming to me anytime soon either.

I never realized how repetitive my life was until a few mornings ago when I was in my "thinking bliss" aka my shower. I realized that, I wake up, go to school, sit through the same four classes, go home, go on my computer, eat, go on my computer again, and I sleep. This is all the same cycle just until I hit the weekend where I'd probably spend the day at the mall playing DDR or just walking around looking at stuff that either I'd never buy or would never be able to afford. This kind of bothers me as I do want to have a change of pace. It's not like I want to be one of those outgoing people and end up being an inspiration to many people. I could care less about that kind of shit. I just wanna do something that makes me feel like... I've done SOMETHING. No, it doesn't have to be a public speaker, or going to Africa to build homes for the needy. No, none of that. I just want something to happen in my life. I don't want to just sit through it doing nothing.

Maybe its like a sign or something. The fact that I'm sitting on my ass here, typing to some blog about how unexciting and unproductive my life is, is just a sign that maybe I'm meant to be doing this. You're probably thinking, "meant to be doing this? No one's meant to do anything". Yes, that is true. But that fact I'm still sitting on my ass doing nothing doesn't change.

Just last night, I started reading for fun again (despite the fact that I stayed up until 3:14am reading). It was an actual BOOK this time, not like manga or any of that stuff I read online. It rudely reminded me of how there are people out in the world who just have a hell of a good time. Everyday. The protagonist is a poor (probably not that poor...I mean she DOES live in Orange County) girl that goes to school, hangs out with her majorly rich best friend, goes to parties/nightclubs/anythingyoucanthinkof and goes shopping every other day. You'd think this is pretty normal for someone living in California right? But no, not in this case. This person is 17 (or 17 1/2 as she emphasizes in the book) AND she still goes to school...

Now the question is, would I do that if I had the chance to? Maybe, I think I would be a completely different person given the circumstances. But with my current life? Hell, being at a party or a nightclub or whatnot would be just about the last thing I'd do. I mean for one, I hate being in crowds, I hate "hanging" with large groups of people, and for sure I don't "party". I'd much rather be at home, huddled by my computer, watching anime or doing something stupid like going on Neopets. Does that mean I'm satisfied with my life? Clearly not, as my whole post has been on how much I question my unproductive life. I said that, "given the circumstances" I would be a completely different and I do seriously believe that. If I lived in Orange County or something like that, no doubt I would have tried going to a party or nightclub. From there, I'd either hate it or like it. But knowing how desperately people try to fit in and stick with cliques there, I would probably do the same and end up "liking" parties and such.

A recent issue in my life has taught me one important thing. I've kind of went by life knowing this but never really thought of it in a way that would make me so questioning. People change and your friends, oh god, who knows how long you'd still be "friends" for. Two years? Two weeks? ...two days? But people DO change and people need to be prepared for it. I've started this whole act of mine about two years ago. I try not to make friends now. I mean, I'd feel bad if I did because I know, deep down, I'll never in hell trust them with anything. The "actual friends" I've have now? They're different. Most of them I've known since I was 5, the others... I don't know, they have their own kind of vibe. Call it my gut feeling, but I trust them. If my gut feeling just decides to crap out on me and it really turns out that one of these people betray me, then hell with it.

Anyway, this has been one long post. I bet I just made up for all of the days I've missed and I guess I'll post soon :)

New Blog

Well its official, my old blog messed up (more like my carelessness). I forgot which email I had used to work on it and now I can't access it ahaha my bad. Anyway I think the next few posts will be old posts that I thought were pretty important and I'll transfer them over to this one.
I'll make a post that will make it obvious if it's new or not
