Happy Birthday To Me

heh. Its already the next day but I was out until not that long ago. Had a lovely dinner with my friends. Not going to post up the photos though cuz I didn't snap any really awesome photos. To sum it all up, it was just a party of 10 in this room with a giant table. Like actually, the table was insane huge.

Before I get too carried away talking about food again, here's the dress that I ordered off of Body Line (L299 in purple)
Please excuse my derp-ness. Anyway, to be totally honest, I was a teensy bit disappointed with the dress even though its very cute. The red on the dress is a bit too bright for my liking. The picture on the website made it look a bit washed out.

Don't worry though if you're planning on buying it, the dress is super cute. It can be worn in a variety of styles too (or so I've noticed). It can go as a halter dress (like how I wore it in the picture above) and it can also be straps since there are two other ribbons on the back that you can tie it to. The size is pretty good as well. It isn't tight on me which definitely means I can layer under and over it.

If I had to give a rating for this dress? .... 7.5/10 --> mostly cuz the colours weren't as "pastel" as I thought it would be.
Also I'm really pissed at the shipping company. I had to randomly pay another 25$ to pick it up from the post office. Absolutely ridiculous. I've never had to do that ever for any other online orders.
Lookit this Alpaca backpack! Fangs, buddy. You know who you are. Anyway. This can be coordinated with so many lolita outfits haha. Can't wait for summer: season of the conventions. As much as I love lolita, I'm not devoted enough to wear it any time other than during conventions or costume parties haha

More Alpaca products. This is a little Alpaca keychain in a maid outfit haha. How cute is that?

Happy Holidays to everyone : ) Who knows when I'll make a new post but hopefully I'll squeeze one in right before the new year

Macarons vs. Macaroons

I have a feeling that this will be a weird post but... (just an excuse to put up my pictures haha)
I think just up until earlier this year, I didn't know the difference between macarons and macaroons. So let's make things straight: Macarons are the cute ones (I don't know about you but in my opinion, there's nothing really cute about macaroons)
All of my pictures here are of macarons. They come in assorted flavours and they're quite tasty
Macaroons, on the other hand, are these shell shaped pastries (kind of like biscuits?) and they're made with coconut inside. Ergo, I don't eat them. I hate anything with coconut in it.
A friend got these at a bakery (?) called Faubourg. I really have no idea what or where the place is as I wasn't there. I just took her pictures and edited them hahas.
I did however, get to eat this one ^^^ Candy Cane Macaron. My breath felt all minty after eating it!
And here's Pistachio. I always love the vibrant colours of things that are pistachio flavoured but it seems weird to me.... so I've never tried

Back to the whole Macaron vs Macaroon thing. I feel that it's pretty inevitable that people are going to continue mistaking the two. Just today, I passed by a bakery selling macarons labelled as macaroons. But hey, raise the awareness, right? (LOL I make this issue sound a lot bigger than it really is.... First World Problems?)

Just for fun, here's a picture of my friend's cat, Kiki (Yes, that's me holding her) and yes, that is the "all hope and chance of escape has lost"-look in her eyes. Happens every time I pick her up ;)

Anyway, I should probably get to sleep. Gotta wake up early tomorrow and finish a term paper and studying for a final that are both due tomorrow night haha. Procrastination  at its finest, eh folks?

So I deco'd my nerf gun

Look! A pink Christmas Tree ;D It's cute, right? I wish I had the ornaments to make that tree. Would've been even better with a white tree though (or maybe mint green) :O
So, I deco'd my nerf gun. For one, I had never seen anyone do this before. Maybe someone has but I just haven't seen it before and I thought it'd be a cute idea to add on to a lolita outfit or something for the next convention that's coming up (considering how I just ordered a new dress too).
So yeah. Half of it is bedazzle (with rhinestones and pearl beads) and the other half is deco. I would've just deco'd the whole thing but I kind of ran out of supplies haha >> I probably should have bought more stuff when I went back to Hong Kong last summer. (I think the trend is kind of dying though....I tried looking, I swear)

This one store always makes such awesome looking candy apples. Does anyone know how to actually eat them though? I think I'd just make a giant mess with the toppings .... heh

First time trying "hot" bubble tea. This is the Earl Grey Milk Tea with pearls on the side. To be honest though, the pearls look like a strange concoction of clear liquid and frog eggs or something.. but it was actually pretty good. I'll definitely get this the next time time I go out for bbt during winter

Well anyway, short post but mostly it was just for pictures of the nerf gun. Talk soon

Pre-Christmas Things to do

Too early, no? Haha my Sunday morning well spent. Am I the only person that does this or does everyone else also put the presents that they need to give out under the tree before Christmas? The bottom of my tree is already super full (yeah, I put it all there after I took the picture)
 Nom-licious dessert at Beard Papa's. It's a french pastry called a "brest"
Mazazu Crepe's Matcha Azuki Crepe (or w/e the name is) It really wasn't as good as people made it sound. Mostly it was just the mochi that ruinned it so maybe I'll give it another try
Rain. Tea. Gold spray paint. Nerf Guns. I'm an awesome sister. I know exactly what to get my brother for Christmas
New headband that I made for fun.... I was about to purchase one online for about $8 but then I realized I could probably make one myself (obviously wont be that nice but... I just saved myself $8) Can't wait for the next convention ;D

Anyway, sorry its been a short post but I really don't have much to put up. I'll try to make my life more interesting xD

Happy Pocky Day

As the title suggests, Happy Pocky Day, everyone (11.11) I celebrated by eating my last box of Pocky haha. This holiday deserves to be hyped up way more. Supply and demand, everyone.
More Pocky demand = more Pocky!

Anyway, I'm sorry to say that I've been kind of in a slump. I haven't really been doing much since school started other than going to school, going to work, going to Starbucks and going to the arcade. And as much fun as I have in the arcade, I'm sure no one would appreciate posts about every time I go.

There's not much of an update in regards to makeup products... I've recently discovered I really like wearing dark red lipsticks (even though I've only done it twice and they both test runs for helping me decide if I wanted to buy a dark colour or not. The one that I've tried both times is the Sephora Collection's Rouge Cream Lipstick in Passion Red 03- Dark Rosey Red
I don't really own any Lipsticks so that's probably why I haven't bought this yet. If I get this one, it's a really big jump and I don't want to start off wearing lipstick with such a huge change so I'd probably end up buying a bunch of other ones.

I've been majorly trying to save up money the past few months (not going that well considering how my parents have completely stopped funding me for anything other than living expenses). I've already made my New Year's Resolutions (Yes, I am very early but guess what? I've been done Christmas shopping since last week too) Well anyway, the first item on my resolutions is "Get a bass". No, not bass as in Sea Bass but bass as in the guitar. I've been wanting to learn how to play the longest time and I think it's about time I've learned. With the bass and amp, it'll come to around $750CAD and that's not even including the lessons. I've got about 400 saved now and it'll take at least until February until I make any purchases.

So instead of spamming text, I'll just post a bunch of random pictures to update my life on this blog :) Hope everyone enjoys it
This was for work (yeah, I get to cut fruit for kids at my program) Apparently, this is how I cut things in halves. Honing my housewife-ey skills. Not going so well either haha

Jubeat. I miss playing this game online. This is what I did practically EVERY day in Hong Kong. I ranked up, unlocked a lot of songs and come back to realize that our Jubeat machines don't have the online function therefore: no ranking, no versus, no unlocked songs. QQ

Cutest cat ever at the pet store. I've been playing with this cat ever since it got to the store (Yeah, I also work at the mall so I get to see this little buddy a lot)

My friend's birthday dinner at The Keg. 10 oz Prime Rib with Assorted Vegetables. Could not finish x_x too full.
Not sure how well you can see, but it's pink. Frankly, I don't think I've ever been so excited to go to the bathroom.
Kodak moment during karaoke with some friends ;) This picture just SCREAMS excitement (haha)

~nyappy

ps. speaking of nyappy. An Cafe is having their quote unquote "World Tour" right now. The first concert of this tour was their first concert after their 5 year hiatus? 4 year? I can't really remember. Some fan I am, eh? Well anyway, why is it that World Tour only includes Europe and Japan? The last time I checked, World Tour includes Canada as well. If it's the number of fans they're worried about, I'm sure any of the big cities in Canada would have a bigger turnout than anywhere in Finland or Moscow (not hating or anything but ... really?) Anyway I want to manage to finish this post before 12:00 so I'll talk to everyone again soon

How much I dislike Autumn

haha jokes...(but not really)
Well since I haven't made a post in a while, and the fact that I'm super bored, I've decided to write about Autumn!

Asides from the freezing weather, fluctuating showers, drying out of my skin even more, and having to walk/bus to school, Autumn hasn't been that bad... haha. Absolutely not looking forward to Winter though (when it snows but not a lot and the roads get all slushy and adsfkljaf everything looks dirty because it's mixed with snow and rocks) Well, now that I'm here might as well talk about some things I HAVE been liking (not a lot though LOL)

Yes, that's right. Nothing better than a good ol' cup of Starbucks on a cold day. My addiction is coming back. It settled for a bit during the summer (mostly cuz I was gone in Hong Kong) but I think it's back now. I always grab one before work.... or school....

Since the temperature is dropping, many things that I like are more weather-appropriate now such as scarves and candles. I've mostly been wearing stoles though. I feel like big chunky scarves choke me but I don't really have one so I cant say for sure. I've been looking for one for a while already but to no avail have I have the perfect one. I'll probably just grab a random one at Aldo's or something.

I definitely want something like this. It's super bulky and fluffy and looks really, really warm. (Y) Perfect for someone who gets really cold ALL the time. (I really am dreading winter. I'm already freezing now, imagine when the temperature hits below zero)

I bought a candle from Bath & Body Works yesterday haha (where else would I get a candle that's not over $30?) and it was a bit of a stretch for me. Normally, I would get really light floral-ey scents but this time I got a candle called "Snowed In" It's hard to say what it smells like since it's such a unique smell but I actually quite like it. I cant burn it for too long though because it starts to smell kind of weird (like a weird bitter smell)

So everyone, I have quite the problem here. I already have dry skin to begin with and since I'm a swimming coach, the chlorine burns my skin and makes it even more dry. Now with the cold temperatures, its getting even MORE dry. (Just imagine the Sahara Desert) What should I do ;_; I have yet to find a product that actually does something to help my skin. For one, I know The Body Shop's body butters do NOT work for me. (they're just good for faking moisturized skin LOL)

I also have quite the other dilemma. Currently, I have really long hair and frankly, I'm bored of it. I have very coarse hair so it's impossible to achieve that "light and fluffy" kind of effect that I love. I'm thinking of the one above but ;_; it's so hard to decide haha. I've been growing out my hair for 5 years and if I end up not liking this cut, I would be so sad. Gah. What to do? Anyway,

Disappointing Products

Instead of giving each product that I don't like its own review, I'll just do a combined post and skim briefly over my approaches with each product. Once again, everything I buy is usually based on reviews or recommendations so its hard to really judge the product until after I've bought it.

1) Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner
Ok, I'm not going to say that it's a BAD eyeliner, but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. The initial uses weren't that bad (just a typical felt liner) and it doesn't really smudge. However, after a few uses, I noticed that the lines I drew were getting lighter and lighter (like it's already running out of ink) To be honest, it's not that big of a deal since all I have to do is go over the line again but.... yeah.

2) Pore Putty BB Cream
For a BB Cream that is supposedly a number one bestseller in Japan, this product was quite disappointing for me. Maybe I'm putting on the cream wrong or something (LOL i have no idea what i'm saying...) but in reality, it just made my skin look kind of flaky and it didn't spread all that well. I have to admit, I've only tried it out once so I guess I'll give it a few more tries but I am definitely not going to be expecting much the next few times. Plus, was this product supposed to hide my pores? Definitely not.
3) Johnson's Body Care- Naturally White
Haha I know this is a completely random product but I had to mention it. If anyone plans on lightening a tan with this ... don't. That's all I have to say. It has a weird smell and the product just sits on your skin (eventually rubbing off). I also have the body soap which I haven't used but I'm hoping it'll be a bit better.
4) Nexcare Acne Dressing
Damn. I had such hopes for this product! Heard/read so many great reviews on this product. Didn't work at all for me. Let me just give you the gist of this product. You open it and you see these clear-yellowish stickers in all sorts of sizes on a plastic sheet. Apparently, you're supposed to put one of these stickers on a pimple and it "sucks out" the pimple. I've used this twice and zero results have shown -sadface- I bought 2 boxes too (no worries though. It was only about $5CAD)

To be honest, there are plenty more of disappointing products that I would put up but for one, I'm super lazy AND I have a bit of home reading to be doing for school (whoo... first day of school T_T)
Why couldn't summer come around more often?

HongKong Haul (a few reviews too... maybe)

Hurro everyone :) I'm back from my vacation (been back for a while already actually) but I just wanted to show everyone the things I bought. I think I'll do most reviews separately, since I don't want to make this the longest post ever. I'll probably just mention a few of the products that didn't make much of an impression of me.

(FYI I buy products based on reviews and how pretty the packaging looks so trust me, I've done my fair share of research before going to Hong Kong)

So, mostly I went to HK to repurchase items that I've bought before or products that I've used before and liked. So the things include My Beauty Diary Masks (the two in the picture I've never seen in Canada before: Black Rose and Caviar), Tsubaki Shampoo/Conditioner (didn't take a picture but you can see a picture of it in my other post), and Polaroid film. Pretty much everything in this photo other than the masks/film/eyelash curlers were presents.

Oh yeah, I bought shoes one day and they started cutting into my ankles so I had to buy bandaids ._.
Here we have the Biore Pore pack. I honestly think it's pretty good but it doesn't take enough out (if you get what I mean) I guess that just means I have super clogged up pores or something (i'm sad to say). The Neutrogena HydroBoost Water Gel is a repurchase since I've posted about it before as well.

Oh, Dollywink. I can't even imagine how much of my money you have taken already.

And yup. No Hong Kong trip is complete without purchasing Laneige products. I was almost out of the cleanser and the Sleeping Pack was highly recommended to me. If anyone wants more detailed explanations of any of the products, just comment and I'll do a short review.

Summary of the Past Month

So hey guys. Just a summary of what I've been up to the past month
So yeah I finally graduated... high school that is... University life, here I come. So happy I'm almost done with school. I just have 2 more exams to write (well one final and one exam) and then I'm completely done and free. I'll be moving on to study Linguistics and Sociology hehe. (For those who don't know, linguistics = the science of language)

On a more beauty related note, the Ciate Caviar Nails have finally emerged in the Sephora where I live. I'm sooo excited to try them out once I'm not completely broke QQ I'm kind of turned off by the product though as even they state that it only lasts 48 hours. I'm not sure about you guys but that sounds absolutely ridiculous to me. 2 DAYS and the beads are already falling off?!

So over the past weekend, I had a total allotted time of 8 hours of sleep considering how I had no sleep from friday - saturday (due to our grad afterparty) I'm still actually trying to recover from that but if you know me in person, you'll realize that I'll never actually recover. I'm just a permanently tired person. I tried making up for it yesterday by taking a "nap" at 8:00pm. Fell asleep and didn't wake up till 3am. Then I woke up and was like wtf? and couldn't back to sleep because my internal clock is only use to giving me 7 hours of sleep. GG

Sorry guys this is all I can think of for the post. Not quite a summary but  to really sum it all up, I've been doing: homework, planning a fundraiser, volunteer, projects, grad events. Yee

nyappy~

Kracie fail.

*drumroll entrance for myself* Hey everyone! I'm kind of thinking of how I can word things as I go as to not sound too repetitive considering how the last few posts started off something like "Sorry, been super busy" "Haven't posted in forever" so I'll be super special today and not start off that way. Instead, I will tell everyone about my speculations with Kracie's "Cupcake"

Yeah...... Do NOT be fooled by the picture. I looked up the tutorial because I'm too lazy to read all the Japanese and trying to figure out what it meant. (Plus, I didn't realize there were instructions the first time ._. )

So speaking about the tutorial. I always watch videos by RRcherrypie on YouTube. You guys should probably check his videos out, they're super cool. I have no idea how he does anything though. The tutorial I followed was for the exact same product:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp9hWWsrkhI

RRcherrypie, you are my master and I am your disciple.
I could only wish that I make little trinkets as nice as you do ahaha
So who's ready for my end product?

Well.... shit me. Looks 0% similar to what the box shows. ahaha I had fun though, so I guess it wasn't that bad. It didn't actually taste that bad either (Y) I'm still eating the leftover sprinkles ._.

Before I "nyappy" you guys again today, I'm just going to say I'll be making another post right after this. I just didn't want to put too much in one post (you'll see that this sentence will be very contradictory once you see the next post ehehe).

Happy Spring

Hey everyone. Long time no post (again) but I thought maybe I'd finally do a product-related post this time *applauds myself*
So as the title suggests Happy Spring. I love spring. I could easily say that it's my favourite season.
For one, it's such a renewal time for me. I feel like its the start for many things again since it's so close to the new year. And secondly, I love the spring trends. Pastels, florals, long dresses, you name it. So one product I'll be talking about is the Laneige Lip & Eye Remover (I never noticed how terrible the name sounds until typing it now.... Eye remover? gross...)

Well anyway to those who can't really tell, it's a Lip and Eye MAKEUP Remover (I just use it for eyes though since I don't use lip products)
Lately, I've been wearing makeup more frequently and I thought it was about time to get a good makeup remover rather than just soap and water like I use to. I figured that Laneige is by far my favourite skin care brand, I thought that this product would be a green light.

Sorry to those looking for a good review but since I've never actually used a remover before so I have nothing to compare it to.

Anyway when I use this, I shake up the bottle so that the oil mixes with the solution and I put a tiny bit on a cotton pad. Then I just take that and gently swipe it over my eye. Someone please tell me if I'm doing it wrong but every time I do this, I feel like some of the product's getting in my eye. But if I close my eyes too hard, I create creases and I can't get the makeup off ahaha. I'm not too sure if I'm doing this wrong or not. Regardless, I think that this remover does it's job like it's supposed to so I don't see any reason to change to a different one in the future.

Price-wise it's not expensive for what you're getting. I swear this bottle will last me for at least the rest of the year (if I continue using it the way I do now.... about 4 times a week?)
I got this at an over-priced Asian mall for $20 CAD so I know for sure I'll be able to get it cheaper somewhere else. $20 already seems pretty reasonable to me too ahaha.

Just leave a comment if you have any questions and I'll make another post when I remember what products I've tried out recently. My thoughts are so jumbled up lately because of school it's hard to think about anything else. (One and a half months to go!!)

Blogger Challenge: Bucket List

So just a while back, I was reading my friend's blog and she had this thing called a "Bucket List". Basically, it's a list of all the things you dream of doing before you die. It's meant to be a reminder to yourself that you should always live in the moment. Do something that you will look back on and be proud of

1.) Fall in love and get married - ahaha funny how this is the first thing I think about. It's just whenever I think of getting married, I feel like it's so surreal. Yes, I'm that type of person to want a really fairytale wedding but I absolutely do NOT want a lot of people at the reception and currently, I for sure do not want children. Going to work all the time makes me see the worst in children all the time. Obviously there are the good and bad things about having a kid but still, adding up all the good points doesn't outweigh all of the bad points in my opinion.

2) Learn how to play bass - I've wanted to do this for a while (up to the point where I've brought my dad into the store and had a guitar picked out and everything) but I've never actually gotten the chance to buy the guitar. It's one of my short-term goals right now so probably if I spend my money right and save up for the next 2 or 3 months, I'll be well on my way to being a completely noob bass player ;D

^^^ This is along the lines of what I wanted to get. Beautiful ain't it?

3) Become fluent in Japanese - Luckily, I'm already able to understand 75%+ of what most people are saying in Japanese. Just need to work a bit harder and not give up... watch more anime

4) Go back to Europe - I had such a great time in Europe 2 years ago. Eight days is absolutely not enough days to even process the fact that you're IN Europe let alone go through 5 different major cities. For sure, I will go back to Italy (Florence is absolutely gorgeous)

(I climbed the Duomo!) Just looking back at pictures, I can't believe I was actually there. To be honest, I hate looking at pictures of Italy and France now. I get so depressed. Even right now, it just gives me a really uncomfortable feeling.

5) Spend more time with my Grandparents - So I am one of those lucky kids who still have all 4 of their grandparents alive and well (or I would hope so). I really love my grandparents and I know for sure that they love me back just the same. But I know how life works: you're born, you live, and then you die. So I can't just push away the fact that my grandparents are already in those later stages of their lives. I really regret not being able to be with them all the time since they live in Hong Kong so call them every day and chat. Luckily, I'm going back this summer to visit ;D (give them the good news that I'm not going to end up being what they know as "those high school drop-outs")

So this is the end of my Bucket List. Sorry if mine is a bit depressing but.... yeah. Let me know what you guys want to do in the future. I find what other people want to do pretty interesting

nyappy~
(speaking of nyappy, AnCafe, the band where I got nyappy from, is having a comeback from their hiatus this summer. I'm super excited. Let's hope that "World Tour" actually includes something in Canada this time)

Thursday 15 March 2012

I'm NOT dead.

Hey everyone .____. long time no post ahaha. Honestly, school has just been so much though. I spend my days either doing homework or out somewhere trying to enjoy myself so no time to post at all. This post now is just kind of an update (yeknow, all the stuff thats going on right now) I'll do a more beauty product related post later. Heard and tried of a few new products that seem pretty good.

Ice Cream Taiyaki (I've wanted to try this for a while actually) It wasn't as godly as I had anticipated though
These two are ... (wait for it) BENTO BOXES. OWO They're so cute aren't they?

I went to karaoke and the place gave me and my friend free food/drinks (still not too sure why...) They first came into our room and told us to try out the green one. My first thoughts were green apple. I mean the only thing I can think of with that type of artificial green colour is green apple flavouring anyway. I tried it first and honestly, it was slightly like drinking diluted mouth wash. It has potential though? They could've added some type of fruit flavouring inside as well to tone down the mint.

KILL IT WITH FIRE!! ahaha singing along and this thing pops up....
